Tip 43. Have a law dictionary handy
For words you don’t understand, have a good law dictionary and a good general dictionary close to hand. You can then quickly look-up the word.
Or enter the word into the Google query box preceded by the word “define” and a colon. Press Enter and Google will present you with a list of definitions from the web.
Also, bookmark a good website that defines legal abbreviations such as Law Report abbreviations, or have a hard-copy guide of abbreviations handy.
Even the most experienced researcher will come across a citation to an unfamiliar Law Report series. It’ll save time locating these obscure citations if you can quickly look up the abbreviation.
