Tip 2. Open all search results in a new browser window

Set Google to open all search results in a new browser window. This way, you just close the results window to get back to your list of results rather than clicking the “Back” button and reloading the results page.

Try it now:

  • Go to the Google home page.
  • Click “preferences”.
  • Scroll down and tick the box that says “Open search results in a new browser window”.
  • Press “Save Preferences”.

You can also open pages in a new browser window by right-clicking over the Web link. When the pop-up menu appears, simply click “Open link in new window”.

By the way, did you know that in Windows, you can use the ALT key with the left arrow for moving back to a previous web page, and the ALT key with the right arrow for moving forward to the next web page? For Macintosh computers, the shortcut is the Command key and the right or left arrow. Try it to see how much faster navigating the web becomes compared to clicking the Back and Forward buttons.
